Sweet and Sour Pork Made with the Co-op Tender Pork Fillet Set

|
The Dish blend we recommend for this recipe. |
To be honest, we wondered whether we should publish this recipe at all. It uses a much-loved product from Co-op (a Japanese consumer co-operative) that already makes an easy, delicious plate on its own.
The only thing this recipe does differently is add a pinch of Dish Symphony No.3. Should we really be publishing this? It makes such a good sweet and sour pork that we decided we should.
The Tender Sweet and Sour Pork Set Made with Fillet is already well made and contains no chemical seasonings, but adding Dish 3 brings aroma to it and takes the flavour perhaps three steps deeper. Dish 3 is our own blend, built on wu xiang fen (Chinese five-spice), and it lifts the sweet-sour savouriness of the pork into a plate that tastes properly restaurant-made.
Once you are hooked on this, the stock of sweet and sour pork sets in your freezer will start to grow, so mind your space.
Ingredients (serves 4)
- Dish Symphony No.3: 1 tsp
- Co-op / Tender Sweet and Sour Pork Set Made with Fillet
- Vegetables: onion, carrot, green pepper, sweet pepper and so on
- Salt: a pinch
- Oil: 1 tbsp (white sesame oil or black sesame oil is our recommendation here)
Preparation
- Defrost the Tender Sweet and Sour Pork Set Made with Fillet in the microwave.
- Cut the vegetables to the size you like.
Method
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat, add the vegetables and a pinch of salt, and fry.
- When the vegetables have softened and turned translucent, add the defrosted pork and fry.
- Once the meat starts to heat through, add 1 tsp of Dish Symphony No.3 and stir-fry so that it is mixed through everything.
- Add the sauce and cook until it thickens, then it is ready.
(If you would like more spice, sprinkle a little extra Dish over the plate after serving.)
