One lane off the Higashi Chaya district, in a hundred-year-old machiya. Some people travel a long way for this chai. Smell everything, and take home the one you like.
We are one turn off the main street, on a quiet lane. The sign is small, so keep these two pictures in mind.

The main street of the Main Street , one street further back.Utasu Shrine and cafe tamon — turn north around there. About five minutes on foot from the bridge over the Asano River.

Inspice chai has spread slowly, by word of mouth. People now come from all over Japan for it.
We simmer twelve spices and selected tea leaves carefully, for the cup at its most aromatic. Besides chai, there is spiced cocoa and craft cola.
The room is full of the scent of chai and spice. Walk in from the old streets of the Higashi Chaya district and take in the air of the place along with the cup.

The same scent again, once the trip is over. To have at home exactly what you drank here, there is the Chai Spice Pack, and for the microwave, the CHAInstant series — the one most often chosen to take away.
CHAInstant needs only a mug and hot water. The Spice Pack is the full version, simmered in a pan. Both are light and flat, so they will not weigh down your luggage.

The whole Inspice range is in the shop. What is inside each one is laid out on a sample board, whole spice by whole spice. “What would this go with?” — please just ask. We will choose one with you, for tonight's table.
Spice Curry, Dish, FlareLine, Hot Spice, Vetiver Tea, the cocoa. The bottle you were looking at online — you can smell it here.

Chairs are set along the passage, where the machiya's original earthen floor remains. If your feet are tired, take a cup and sit. No one will hurry you along.
You are welcome with bags or a suitcase. If it is busy, please have a word with a member of staff.
