Toki

An old warehouse turned Japanese-modern. A hideaway café for tasting time itself.

14 km from our flagship store in Higashiyama, Kanazawa — this is how far our blends have travelled.

About the shop

Just off the Kamo interchange on the Tsubata North Bypass, a café with no sign outside. An old farm warehouse has been renovated, and under the beam the owner fell in love with sit a single-slab ginkgo table and counter. The name, Toki, means time: it was chosen out of a wish that the time you spend here should be comfortable.

Things that are good for the body, for as many people as possible. The sweets are made with rice flour, kept gluten-free. The chai is brewed with Inspice spices. The "Vetiver" herbal tea uses Inspice vetiver too, and the blue spreading through the glass pot is a pleasure to look at as well.

From Inspice

That there is a shop which shows the blue of vetiver as beautifully as this. We would like a great many people to know about it.

This shop’s scent print

Each ring, from the inside out, is one of the Inspice series this shop carries. The gaps in the rings and the length of the ticks are different for every shop, so no two prints are alike. The needle at the centre points toward our flagship store in Higashiyama, Kanazawa.
