“Vetiver Tea Symphony No.1” — 5 tea bags

Vetiver Tea Symphony No.1 is a blended tea of vetiver, butterfly pea and echinacea. The blend is built so that the taste and aroma of vetiver come through plainly. Vetiver is known as a calming herb, and the blue of butterfly pea gives that idea a colour. Echinacea lifts the toasted note.

Where the ingredients come from

• Vetiver: only Japanese vetiver, grown by careful natural cultivation in Hoshino-mura, Yame, Fukuoka.
• Butterfly pea, echinacea: only herbs from Paysan Farm at Kahokugata in Ishikawa, which grows herbs by natural cultivation — no pesticides, no chemical fertiliser, no compost — drawing on the land’s own strength.

How to brew it

One tea bag makes about 1.5 L of tea.

Hot

Pour 400–500 cc of boiling water into a teapot. Dry the bag after use, or simply top the pot up, and you can brew it about three times. As a guide, steep 5 minutes the first time, 7 the second and 10 the third, adjusting to taste.

Iced

Put one tea bag in a pot or pan, pour over 1–1.5 L of boiled water, and leave it about 10 minutes. Chill the brewed tea in the fridge. Whether you take the bag out first is up to you.

How it is made

• Packed by hand, with the quality of each ingredient checked as we go.
• The tea bags are made of Soilon, a biodegradable material derived from corn. It returns to the soil, and gives off no harmful substances when burned. Beyond the environmental side, it is safe to use, and it lets the tea taste more like itself.
